چکیده
Abstract Background Sepia officinalis ink is a bioactive secondary metabolite rich in melanin granules, which has wide range of nutritional and therapeutic values also been used to prevent various gastrointestinal disorders. Gastric ulcer, the most common disease, characterized by severe gastric mucosa damage, its prevention currently one main goals clinical experimental studies. Thus, present study was focused on evaluating potential gastroprotective efficacy extract (SOIE) against ethanol-induced ulcer rats. Results The current results revealed that SOIE administration at two selected doses improved significantly integrity as indicated significant ( P < 0.05) amelioration secretion indices (pH volume) marked decrease index. Moreover, could counteract oxidative stress induced ethanol via decline malondialdehyde content well increment glutathione antioxidant enzymes activities (catalase glutathione-s-transferase). Additionally, treatment caused reduction nitric oxide content. Respecting morphological histopathological studies, 200 mg/kg body weight healing lesions no hemorrhagic bands or injuries observed reduced severity score ulcer. Conclusions be promising alternative antiulcerogenic compound treat lesions.

متن کاملSubcellular localization and function of melanogenic enzymes in the ink gland of Sepia officinalis.
The ink gland of the cuttlefish Sepia officinalis has traditionally been regarded as a convenient model system for investigating melanogenesis. This gland has been shown to contain a variety of melanogenic enzymes including tyrosinase, a dopachrome-rearranging enzyme and peroxidase. However, whether and to what extent these enzymes co-localize in the melanogenic compartments and interact is an ...

The optical and paramagnetic properties of size-controlled ink particles isolated from ink sacs of Sepia officinalis were investigated. Topographic images of atomic force microscopy (AFM) revealed that the average heights of the large and small ink particles were 156 nm and 5.3 nm respectively. The ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) spectral features of aqueous solutions of ink particles were depende...

The biosynthesis, localization and fate of catecholamines in the ink gland of the cuttlefish Sepia officinalis were investigated by combined biochemical and immunohistocytochemical methodologies. HPLC analysis of crude ink gland extracts indicated the presence of dopa (2.18+/-0.82 nmol/mg of protein) and DA (dopamine, 0.06+/-0.02 nmol/mg of protein), but no detectable noradrenaline or adrenalin...
